2025 South Hero Fourth of July Parade

2025 South Hero 4th of July Parade

11:00 AM – July 4th – South Street, South Hero

Participate – Support – Cheer!

A South Hero Tradition With a vibrant new logo and a theme celebrating the heart of our community—apples, white clouds, and Lake Champlain—the 2025 parade is set to honor the rich agricultural and waterfront traditions of our island town.About the Parade Logo

This year’s logo features patriotic red, white, and blue tones with nods to South Hero’s apple orchards and shoreline spirit. The bold apple-red symbolizes our fertile farmlands and orchard heritage, the white is a nod to the big, beautiful clouds overhead, and the deep blue mirrors the calming presence of Lake Champlain. Together, they represent the pride and resilience of our community.

The parade kicks off at South Street and Landon Road and heads north on South Street to Route 2.

Participants are assembled in a field at the Kick-off point. Report to the coordinator in the bright yellow vest. We begin on time, so participants must be ready to go.

Who is the Grand Marshal?

The South Hero 2025 4th of July Parade Grand Marshal is RON HACKETT of Hackett Orchards. The parade will pass by the orchard on South Street. Mr. Hackett, age 89, is Vermont’s oldest Orchardist.

Ron Hackett

“Mr. Hackett truly embodies the spirit of our ‘Red, White, and Blue’ theme,” said parade co-chair Al Getler. “He and his wife Celia moved to South Hero in 1967 and renamed the orchard that has since become a cornerstone of our community.”

Originally from the Northeast Kingdom, the Hacketts leaned on the guidance of early employee Mert Sage to learn orchard operations. Ron also worked full-time for New England Telephone while helping build the farm.

“Mert taught us how to run the orchard, which dates back to 1890,” said Hackett. “Celia was an outdoors person—she took to it right away and led the way. She excelled at everything she did.”

He added, “I just wish she were here to share in this honor.”
