The world is a noisy place. If you are not careful, the messages that hit you throughout the day may cause to you to end up hearing nothing. Worse yet, if you are trying to reach people with a message you may never reach them.
There is a place, a place you most likely end up going several times a day, that is focused and personal and that brings you the messages you want to receive. It is a search engine. The noun has become a verb when we Google something.
If you want to reach people with your message in a noisy world one of the best places to end up is at the top of a search engine results list. Not many people go beyond the first few results of a Google, Bing or Yahoo search result. This puts a great deal of pressure on content creators like you and I to create high quality content. This content needs to be easily discovered by search engines whose rules are unknown, but sensed. The sense is that you need to be creating content constantly and mindfully.
Building a Platform
Michael Hyatt raised the platform. He didn’t use hammers and nails. He used bits and bytes. The platform Michael built is on his website. He is a major voice on the web and produces content that I find incredibly helpful. I am not alone. There are a few hundred thousand unique visitors that end up at his website www.michaelhyatt.com that also find Michael’s content engaging and necessary.
Michael has found a voice that many people follow. His blog posts and content can range from covering a new piece of technology, software or gadget to how to have good dinner conversation, how to pack and unpack a suitcase or how to stay focused and motivated. His content is honest, friendly and most often quite helpful.
Ironically Michael’s sweet spot in the content realm of his platform is the information he shares about building YOUR platform.
Building YOUR Platform
You need to build a platform. It is high time you recognize the necessity of having a platform if you want to be heard.
